George J. Hyfantis, Jr., Ph.D., P.E.
Manager and Market Leader

Dr. Hyfantis is Manager and Market Leader for QE2, A Fisher Arnold Company and is responsible for the oversight of all staff, project managers and senior level staff in the Knoxville office. He coordinates the efforts of staff to ensure efficient delivery of all services. Founder and President of QE2, Gorge has over 40 years of experience in the environmental engineering industry, specializing in site assessments, emergency response, environmental remediation, indoor air quality and solid and hazardous waste management area. He is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager and is co-author of the first Certified Hazardous Materials Manager’s Manual (1987). His experience encompasses a wide range of environmental activities that have been conducted on a broad base of contracts.

Dr. Hyfantis has served as an international consultant to Taiwan, Thailand, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This work regarded environmental infrastructure improvements and regulations. Additionally, his work has included extensive consulting services for State Agencies, municipalities, transit authorities, and private sector corporations covering a broad variety of environmental concerns. Before founding QE2, he was President of International Waste Management Systems, Vice President of Environmental Systems Corporation, and Manager of the Regional Waste Management Program for the Tennessee Valley Authority. During his tenure with TVA, he was the Federal on-site coordinator for emergency responses. Dr. Hyfantis has been an adjunct professor of Environmental Engineering at the University of Tennessee for 40 years.

In his spare time Dr. Hyfantis is avid boater, spending as much time on the water as possible. In winter he is an avid skier. He is also a soccer referee and a drummer in his church band and a local rock and roll band.
